NMN for Hypertension: What the Evidence Actually Shows

Category: cardiovascular | ICD-10: I10 | Evidence tier: mechanistic-only

What is Hypertension?

Hypertension is sustained high blood pressure, typically 140/90 mmHg or above. It is the single largest modifiable risk factor for stroke, heart attack and kidney disease.

NMN relevance: the published evidence

There is no convincing human evidence that NMN lowers blood pressure. Mechanistic work suggests NAD+ supports endothelial function, but no RCT in hypertensive patients has tested NMN with blood-pressure endpoints. Do not delay or substitute antihypertensive medication.

Questions to ask before supplementing

No validated dose for hypertension.

Contraindications and red flags

Patients on ACE inhibitors, ARBs or beta-blockers should continue prescribed therapy.

Bottom line for Malaysian patients

NMN is not registered with NPRA as a treatment for any specific condition; it is sold as a general health supplement. If you have hypertension, use this page as a question list for a registered medical practitioner before adding NMN to existing therapy. Read our safety guide for full red-flag context.
