NMN for Osteoporosis: What the Evidence Actually Shows
What is Osteoporosis?
Osteoporosis is reduced bone density that raises fracture risk, especially of the hip, spine and wrist. It is most common in postmenopausal women and older men.
NMN relevance: the published evidence
There is no human trial of NMN with bone-density endpoints. A few rodent studies suggest NAD+ supports osteoblast function. Bisphosphonates, denosumab, vitamin D, calcium and weight-bearing exercise have far stronger evidence and should be prioritised.
Questions to ask before supplementing
No dose validated for bone density.
Contraindications and red flags
Do not delay DEXA scanning or prescribed bone therapy.
Bottom line for Malaysian patients
NMN is not registered with NPRA as a treatment for any specific condition; it is sold as a general health supplement.
